The Cloister Garden

In the center of the square there is the traditional cloister garden, or garth. At its center there is a statue of Our Lady. Originally there was also a fountain there, but it was subsequently filled in.

These pictures are from a reception following a diaconate ordination.

Our tour of the Cloister Garden would not be complete without a visit with some of its residents: our local tribe of turtles. To the left is our largest turtle, a male (we think). To the right, one of the brothers feeds him a bit of pineapple. Below is the smaller female turtle. A third turtle roams the garden somewhere, but has been a bit camera shy.
