Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P.

Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P. teaches theology at Providence College in Rhode Island. He holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Dominican House of Studies and a Doctorate in moral theology from the Catholic University of America. He entered the Dominican Order in 2003, after having spent a number of years in seminary preparing to be a diocesan priest. He was ordained a priest in the Dominican Order in May of 2009.

Some years ago, Shinya Yamanaka, a scientist in Tokyo, Japan happened to be looking at a human embryo through a microscope. Last December, Yamanaka told The New York Times, "When I saw the embryo, I suddenly realized there was such a small difference between it and my daughters that I thought we can't keep destroying embryos for our research.
