Fr. Bruno M. Shah, O.P.

Fr. Shah was clothed in the Dominican habit in 2003 and ordained to the priesthood in 2009. His earlier studies were in religion, philosophy, and education. He is an adult convert. Before entering the Order, he worked for a high school run by the (French) Christian Brothers on the Lower East-Side, NY, NY; he taught in the Literature and Religion departments for three years. It was during this time that he discerned his call to an active, priestly ministry, focused on doctrinal preaching, and necessarily flowing from contemplative study and communal religious observance.

Happy Mother's Day
Crowning of Our Lady at St. Gertrude Church in Madiera, OH.

Anna Jarvis promoted "Mother's Day" to honor her mother, Ann Jeeves Jarvis (1832-1905), who had eleven children and spent much of her life promoting "Mothers' Day Work Clubs." The elder Jarvis organized these clubs to work toward ameliorating living conditions of families -- and especially infants -- in her native West Virginia. After the Civil War, she sponsored meetings between mourning mothers…  » More

Fr. John Baptist Ku, O.P., preaches on the feast of St. Vincent Ferrer, O.P. (1350 - 1419), celebrated by the Dominican Order on May 5. (The Roman calendar holds this memorial on April 5.) Fr. Ku discusses the amazing power of St. Vincent Ferrer's preaching, which, like that of St. Dominic, proceeded from his deep love for souls and their eternal welfare.
