All Roads Lead to Rome
Fr. Rick Jastrzebski, O.P., Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P., and Fr. Anthony Giambrone, O.P.

According to the old saying, all roads lead to Rome. This has been true for many saints in the Church's history, including St. Dominic who traveled to Rome several times to gain the approval of his new order from Pope Honorius III. Since then, generations of Friars have followed in the footsteps of St. Dominic: to preach, to study, and to serve the Church in the shadow of the throne of St. Peter.

This Dominican tradition continues today.  When a young man enters the Order of Preachers, not only does he commit to serving the mission of his own Province, but he also makes himself available, if called, for service to the Universal Church.  As a Dominican, each Friar stands ready to be assigned anywhere for the sake of the Gospel.

Pursuing graduate studies abroad is just one way in which members of the Province of St. Joseph are preparing to serve the Church's universal mission.  Pictured here in the cloister at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome are three Friars engaging this mission: Fr. Rick Jastrzebski, O.P., Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P., and Fr. Anthony Giambrone, O.P.

Fr. Rick, a native of New Jersey, was ordained a priest in 2005.  After completing an assignment to St. Dominic's Church in Youngstown, OH, he is now pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy at the Angelicum. Fr. Benedict, a native of Colorado, was ordained in 1998. He has served St. Gertrude's Church in Cincinnati, OH, and our provincial mission in East Africa. He is currently finishing a License in Spiritual Theology at the Angelicum. Fr. Anthony, a native of Ohio, was just ordained in 2009 and is currently doing research at the École Biblique in Jerusalem. Right now he is in Rome finishing a battery of exams for the License in Sacred Scripture. He will begin doctoral studies in Sacred Scripture at the University of Notre Dame in August.
