Fr. Shah was clothed in the Dominican habit in 2003 and ordained to the priesthood in 2009. His earlier studies were in religion, philosophy, and education. He is an adult convert. Before entering the Order, he worked for a high school run by the (French) Christian Brothers on the Lower East-Side, NY, NY; he taught in the Literature and Religion departments for three years. It was during this time that he discerned his call to an active, priestly ministry, focused on doctrinal preaching, and necessarily flowing from contemplative study and communal religious observance.

Click above to hear the homily Fr. Romanus Cessario, O.P., preached at the Dominican House of Studies for the feast of Blessed Reginald of Orléans (February 12).
A priest of the Diocese of Orléans, Blessed Reginald was won over to the Order by St. Dominic himself. As an added grace, his becoming a Dominican was accompanied by a miraculous healing through the materal agency Our Lady, who also revealed to Reginald what would become the habit of the Order. In his homily, Fr. Cessario highlights three special blessings easily received through the Order's devotion to Mary: security of salvation, hope in Christ's mercy, and perfection of chaste, celibate love.
Fr. Cessario teaches Systematic Theology at St. John's Seminary (Brighton, MA), and is the author of numerous articles and books in both English and French. Recently, Magnificat published his 2008 Good Friday meditations, originally delivered at the Cathedral of St. Patrick (New York, NY): The Seven Last Words of Jesus (2009).
