As of mid-May, great progress has been made on the renovations to the Priory. This part of Phase II—with Phase I, formally concluded last month, being the completion of the new Academic Center and Theological Library—will add 17 offices for adjunct faculty and language instructors, as well as housing for the administrative headquarters of the Washington Theological Consortium.
Water, heating, electrical, internet, and fire suppression systems have all been completed and tested. Most of the painting is also finished. New windows have been installed in all the rooms, and the door frames are in place. Carpenters will be completing the trim work by next week. The new hard wood flooring will soon be installed.
Currently it is anticipated that this part of Phase II will be completed by the end of June—which includes fully furnishing the new rooms—at which point the rest of the faculty of the Pontifical Academy of the Immaculate Conception will be moved into their new offices, directly adjacent to the other faculty offices.
Once this part of Phase II is complete, work will commence on the last portion of Phase II, which involves many exciting renovations, including the installation of an elevator at the west end of the Priory. An extensive project of adding a new heating and air condition system to the Priory chapel and Refectory is slated for later this summer. To view a slide-show of the images, please click here.
