Phase II, which involves the renovation of the Priory—readying it also for PFIC faculty offices—continues to be ahead of schedule and will probably be completed by the end of this month.
In the first week of March a final inspection of the work completed thus far took place, and the project passed with flying colors. Numerous security and safety matters were included in this inspection, including the extensive re-wiring of old circuit boards and switches.
All of the door hardware, lighting, and electrical plates have been installed while shelving has arrived and is being secured to the walls of the various offices. Desk furniture and chairs have arrived at the off-site warehouse, and will be brought in and assembled once the shelving project has been completed. Area carpets in the same style as those used in the Academic Center will also be rolled out soon.
Construction and renovation of the Priory has literally “turned a corner:” the adjacent West-facing hallway is now being stripped down in preparations for the same modernization that is now wrapping-up in the North-facing corridor.
Those who drive by the front of the Dominican House of Studies these days might notice a fresher appearance to it: a company has been power-washing the exterior of the building, removing years of dirt, stains and mold.
