In this video the Dartmouth College Council of the Knights of Columbus and other College Knights traveled to holy sites before WYD to prepare for a week of service. For the college Knights of Columbus, World Youth Day in Madrid was an experience of service and growth which they will take back to their campus. Around the 4:40 timemark, Fr. Jonathan D. Kalish, O.P. shows the birthplace of Saint Dominic in Caleruega, halfway between Osma and Aranda de Duero in Old Castile, Spain.

Br. John Baptist Hoang, O.P., a Student Brother of the Province of St. Joseph, has spent the summer serving the poor at the St. Vincent de Paul campus in Louisville, KY. In a recent article for the St. Vincent de Paul website, Br. John Baptist reflects on the relationship between the Dominican Order and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, emphasizing the relationship between Père Henri-Dominique Lacordaire, O.P., and Bl. Frederic Ozanam, the Founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In this article, Br. John Baptist also discusses the importance of seeing Christ in the poor, relating this to his understanding of his own vocation to the Dominican life.
