Contemplata Aliis Tradere

Thanks to the sponsorship of St. Dominic Priory, Youngstown, OH and the Walsh University Chaplaincy, several Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph were able to share the fruits of their contemplation at the 34th Annual International Meeting of The American Maritain Association in Canton, OH. There were several wonderful Dominican moments over the course of the conference.

Sr. Anne Franics Ai Le, OP, Ph.D. Candidate, Center for Thomistic Studies, University of St. Thomas, Houston, TX presented a brilliant paper entitled "Contemplata aliis tradere: The Universal Call to Contemplation and its Implications" which was very well received. For those interested in thinking very deeply about that Dominican balance of Contemplation and Action, this is a must read. Also, the American Maritain Association conferred upon Sr. Anne Francis the Yves R. Simon Institute Graduate Student Award at the Awards Banquet which concluded the meeting.

Fr. Lawrence Dewan, O.P., Professor of Metaphysics, Dominican University College, Ottawa, Canada gave a plenary presentation entitled "Maritain and the Thomist Idea of Freedom." All who attended the conference were also blessed to hear Fr. Dewan, O.P. preach the keynote homily at our closing Mass.

Fr. Christopher Saliga, O.P., Walsh University Chaplain and Friar of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph was celebrant of the closing Mass and presided at Vespers.
