Ordained in 2002 for the Diocese of Lafayette (Louisiana), Fr. Guilbeau entered the Dominican novitiate in 2005 and professed his simple vows in 2006. Before joining the Order, Fr. Guilbeau obtained his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees from St. John's Seminary in Boston, and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (Patristic Theology) from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In the fall of 2010, having completed three years of parochial ministry at the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer in New York City, Fr. Guilbeau began doctoral studies in fundamental moral theology at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

On April 20, the Angelicum University in Rome awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Theology to the renowned Dominican biblical scholar Fr. Jerome Murphy-O'Connor, O.P. On hand at the ceremony to confer the honorary degree was the Grand Chancellor of the Angelicum and Master of the Order of Preachers, the Very Reverend Carlos Azpiroz Costa, O.P.
Fr. Murphy-O'Connor is a Professor of New Testament at the École Biblique in Jerusalem. He is the author of numerous scholarly books and articles. Among his more recent works are Jesus and Paul: Parallel Lives (Michael Glazer Press, 2007) and The Holy Land: An Oxford Archaeological Guide (Oxford University Press, 2008).
