Born in 1968 in Arizona, Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P., grew up in Colorado as the youngest of nine children in a family that has since grown to include 27 nieces and nephews. Before entering the Order of Preachers, he studied at Colorado State University and Conception Seminary College for the Archdiocese of Denver. He obtained a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Providence College while discerning a vocation to religious life. He entered the novitiate of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in 1992, and was ordained a priest in 1998. Fr. Benedict was assigned first to St. Gertrude Church and Priory in Cincinnati, Ohio as associate pastor for four years. In 2002 he was assigned to the Province's Vicariate of Eastern Africa, serving in Kenya for five years. He had the responsibility of being Novice Master in the Vicariate for novices from seven African countries. Returning from the missions, he ministered briefly at the University Church of St. Joseph at New York University before continuing studies in Rome. In June 2010 he completed the License in Sacred Theology (Spiritual Theology) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) where he also served as a chaplain for two years. In 2010 he was appointed Director of Vocations for the Province of St. Joseph.

Fr. Juan-Diego Brunetta, O.P., JCD, a Friar of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph serves as the Director of the Catholic Information Service of the Knights of Columbus. Among his many responsibilities, he oversees the production of the Veritas series of booklets, which attempt to provide a brief answer to a variety of questions of the faith. These booklets can be ordered through the Catholic Information Service, Knights of Columbus or you can listen to them as a podcast (mp3).
Several of the men of our own Province have written booklets for the series. Fr. Christopher M. Saliga, O.P., RN, has written the latest booklet: Do No Harm: A Guide to Human Dignity and Morally Sound End-of-Life Care (#338). Fr. Chris spent fourteen years in clinical practice as a medic and then a nurse prior to entering the Dominican Order. Given his clinical background, he has reflected carefully upon various bioethics issues for many years. It provides readers with a well-grounded guide to making excellent end-of-life care decisions in full accord with human nature. Although Fr. Chris has written a good number of essays and book reviews for publication, this is his first booklet. Fr. Chris is convinced that “without the Order and the excellent education we get at our House of Studies, none of this would be possible for me.” And so, for those of you discerning life as a Dominican Friar, Fr. Chris encourages you to say "yes." Any skills and gifts you bring will be brought to new levels. All you need to do is say "Yes!"
Below is a list of all of the various Dominican Titles of the Veritas series from the Catholic Information Service of the Knights of Columbus. All of the links below are to PDF copies of the booklets.
