The June 17, 2010 issue of Catholic New York, the country's largest Catholic newspaper serving the Archdiocese of New York, devotes one of its main stories to the June 2 talk given by Archbishop Augustine DiNoia, O.P., Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, at New York's Yale Club. The archbishop, who is a Friar of the Province of St. Joseph, delivered a powerful talk on the contemporary intellectual challenges to Catholic faith and practice. Quoting Pope Benedict XVI, the archbishop said that there is "an 'intellectual charity' that must be exercised to enlighten minds and to combine faith with culture." The archbishop stated, "When the challenges are at least in part intellectual, we need to engage the questions people have and reason them through in a serious way."
