On February 19-20, the Thomistic Institute at the Dominican House of Studies hosted a conference entitled "Secularism and the Natural Desire to Know God."  Beginning the conference was its keynote speaker, Francis Cardinal George, who delivered an address that examined the problem of secularism in light of recent theological debates regarding the relation of grace and nature.  Professor Russell Hittinger, the chair of Catholic Studies at the University of Tulsa, offered a response to the Cardinal's address.  The following day, presentations were given by Fr. John Corbett, O.P. (Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, DHS, Washington, D.C.), Dr. Paul Griffiths (Warren Chair of Catholic Studies, Duke Divinity School), Dr. Bruce D. Marshall (Perkins School of Theology at SMU, Dallas), and Dr. Reinhard Hütter (Duke Divinty School).
