Solemn Vespers for All Saints Eve

The Catholic Artists Society, an association of artists and media professionals in New York City, will host a special liturgy followed by a lecture at the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer in New York City on October 31, 2011. First Vespers for All Saints will be sung, officiated by Fr. Uwe Michael Lang of the Oratory and assisted by Fr. Bruno Shah, OP and Fr. Michael Barone. The Schola Cantorum of St. Vincent Ferrer, directed by Dr. Mark Bani, will sing Gregorian chant and polyphony during the liturgy. After Vespers, Fr. Lang will give a presentation titled "Art, Beauty and the Sacred." A social with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will follow in the church hall.

A native of Germany, Fr. Lang is a priest of the Congregation of the Oratory of St Philip Neri in London. Fr Lang is a staff member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and Coordinator of the Master's program in "Architecture, Sacred Art and Liturgy" at the Università Europea di Roma/Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum. In September 2008, he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as Consultor to the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff.
