Fr. Shah was clothed in the Dominican habit in 2003 and ordained to the priesthood in 2009. His earlier studies were in religion, philosophy, and education. He is an adult convert. Before entering the Order, he worked for a high school run by the (French) Christian Brothers on the Lower East-Side, NY, NY; he taught in the Literature and Religion departments for three years. It was during this time that he discerned his call to an active, priestly ministry, focused on doctrinal preaching, and necessarily flowing from contemplative study and communal religious observance.

Fr. Basil Cole, O.P., preaches on the feast of the great Dominican, Saint Antoninus Pierozzi of Florence (1389-1459). Fr. Cole explains some of the extraordinary natural and supernatural dynanics of this friar's life, who was to become the archbishop of Florence. Fr. Cole also gives all of us hope to become true saints of God, each according to the measure of grace that has been given to us to fulfill our mission in life (see Ephesians 4.7).
Fr. Cole teaches Moral Theology at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception (Washington, DC). His most recent book is The Hidden Enemies of the Priesthood. A popular mission preacher and retreat master, Fr. Cole is presently delivering a retreat to Missionaries of Charity preparing for vows.
