The Dominican Family has striven to carry the torch of Truth for almost 800 years in imitation of our beloved Founder, Saint Dominic.  His custom was to spend night watches in prayer for the salvation of the whole world.   In 1206, ten years before fully organizing the Order of Friars Preachers, he established a community of cloistered nuns in Prouille, France.

Saint Dominic entrusted himself and the entire Order to the care, love and guidance of the Mother of God, and so the formula of our profession includes a promise of obedience to her.  The Monastery of the Mother of God in West Springfield, Massachusetts, established on November 9, 1922, is a community united in heart and soul, lovingly devoted to the service of the Lord through the daily celebration of the Liturgy, perpetual Eucharistic adoration and devotion to our Blessed Mother through Her Rosary.

Times of silence and solitude alternate with times of recreation and togetherness in a harmonious, rhythmic balance each day.  The community is self-supporting and autonomous.  Our income is derived chiefly from our prayer cards and personalized spiritual remembrance cards.  Thereby we fulfill our Dominican mission:
