Biography

Birth date: July 16, 1932 - Date of Ordination: June 16, 1960 

Rev. Angelo Henry Camacho, a native of Somerville, MA and a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph, NY has preached the Gospel as a missionary in Peru for over thirty years. His experience includes parish ministry, both in the US and Latin America, pastoral and administrative ministry on the diocesan and international level, the design and development of marriage enrichment and parish renewal programs, social action ministry among the poor, community organizing and leadership training. He is founder President of the Latin American Institute for Christopher Leadership, and also founder director of a marriage renewal program in Spanish called: REMA- Renovacion Matrimonial.

He is a co-founder of the Worldwide Marriage Encounter Secretariat for Latin American and the founder and first director of the Family Life Commission for the diocese of Chimbote, Peru. Fr. Camacho, who has a Licentiate in Sacred Theology, has published articles, manuals and books in the areas of parish renewal, marriage enrichment and leadership training. He offers various training workshops in these areas and an introductory program to the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) and its applications for spiritual growth and human development, and its application to married couples.

Fr. Camacho is now based in the Priory of St. Mary, New Haven, CT, USA and engaged in full time itinerant preaching, specializing in parish missions, retreats and workshops while continuing his writing career. He is fluent in English and Spanish and conversant in Portuguese.
