Biography

Fr. William "Bill" Price Garrott, O.P., was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland and is the youngest of eight children. After obtaining a B.S. in chemistry from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD, in 1986 and working several years in the field of technology transfer, Fr. Bill entered the Order of Preachers in 1988. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1994 and has served in various parish and campus ministries of the Province. In 1999 Fr. Bill obtained an M.A. in spiritual theology from the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (aka "The Angelicum") in Rome, Italy. Most recently, he served 8 years as director of vocations for the Province during which time 90 men entered the novitiate. Currently Fr. Bill is prior of St. Louis Bertrand Priory in Louisville, Kentucky.

Programs

Fr. Bill has preached over 40 parish missions to packed churches utilizing his musical ability on piano and guitar. He has also preached weekend retreats, days of recollection and various youth events. His CD "Preacher of Grace" has sold over 2000 copies. Through music and preaching, Fr. Bill hopes to draw parishioners more deeply into that unconditional love which the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit reveal to us through our Catholic faith.

Missions typically run 4 nights from Sunday through Wednesday evenings. Fr. Bill preaches all the weekend Masses prior to the start of the mission to generate interest. Fr. Bill leads the Rosary before preaching and hears confessions afterwards.

Fr. Bill has two formats for a parish mission. The first is for parishes where he has not preached before. This mission entitled "God, Are You On-Line?" explores aspects of the Holy Trinity and the Sacraments in simple ways parishioners can appreciate. The second mission is for parishes where Fr. Bill has already preached "God, Are You On-Line". This second mission entitled "Formatted for Widescreen" focuses heavily on catechesis regarding the hot topics of Catholic morality.
